HS Hockey – Fall of a Giant
No, not Ralston Valley. I will not go into details, but something needs to change with the Valor Christian Eagles hockey program. I have some knowledge of the issues, but not the full story, so instead of going into details about the issues the team may be having I could offer all sorts of suggestions. I would be happy to talk with the CHSAA hockey people, or even the administration at Valor to offer my suggestions, but I will not offer them my suggestions unless asked. I have various resources, and ideas that could help get Valor back on track, and other ideas, and would be happy to consult with either Valor or CHSAA. However, as the program stands, it is unfair to the kids on both Valor and the teams they play and I do not see it getting better anytime soon. A practice would have been more work for Ralston Valley than this game was. 13-0. 3 goals in the first two minutes, 6 in the first period. It was just painful to watch.
On a non related note, to teams with uniforms like Valor and Mountain Vista need to make a change. To be fair to everyone, put a number on the front and sleeves of the uniforms. It is impossible to tell who the player is without a number, and makes it difficult for media to caption photos for print and makes it difficult for parents to find photos of their kids to purchase. It also makes it easier for scorekeepers and officials to keep the game flowing and stats accurate.
