HS Softball

I was back on the diamond at Ralston Valley High School on Wednesday evening for the HS Softball game between the Legacy Lightning and the home team RV Mustangs.  Ralston Valley would win the game, 6-2, with 2 home runs.  There were a couple notes on the photography side.  First, for Legacy, you do not need 5 student managers in the dugout.  Because your dugout was so crowded with non players (I think there were 4 coaches and 5 managers) there was no room for me to shoot any of the game from your dugout, putting me in the third base dugout the entire game.  Second, when photographing a batter and your viewfinder is suddenly totally yellow, duck.  One RV batter fouled a ball that shot right at my head.  The second I saw nothing buy yellow, I ducked and dove into the dugout to save my lens and my head.  Even though this is softball, it is on a field with 60 foot base paths, and that ball moves quick.

It was a good game for RV, but being stuck in one location, I could only shoot so many pitcher shots, catcher shots and batter shots.  So near the end of the game I started doing some slow shutter speed photos of the pitcher, and have one of those shots bellow.
