10 Shot – NCAA Basketball – Oregon at Colorado

NCAA Basketball - Oregon at Colorado

NCAA Basketball – Fighting Ducks or Rubber Duckies?

The University of Nike Oregon Ducks, ranked 9th (or 12th depending on what poll you look at) came into Boulder on Sunday afternoon to face a tough Buffalos team, undefeated at home.  Lets see…what did I say in my Oregon State post?  This would be “The Game” for the Buffs.  If they could pull off the upset of one of the best teams in the nation, a second top ranked team to come into the Buffs home at the Coors Event Center this season, this could propel the Buffs through the Pac-12 and right into the NCAA field of 64.

The game started off great, both ways.  Oregon would take a lead, and the Buffs would come right back.  At the end of the 1st half, the Buffs went up 44-42.  In the second half, Oregon took over and built up a lead, but the Buffs hit some big shots and denied the Ducks some big plays and hit the century mark for the win, 100-91.  Where will the Buffs land in the polls?  Who knows.  Both polls are so different for the Buffs (21 in one, 24 in another), and some of the top 20 schools fell this last week, so they could realistically make it into the top 15, but it will be a while before they see the top 10.  They are on the road the next couple games in SoCal, and road wins will be so important for the Buffs now.  Knocking off Oregon was one thing, but keeping those wins coming, and preparing for the coming showdown with the nations #1 team, Arizona is all that matters now.

I was so hoping to see one Duck hit the floor for the game, but he never got in.  Jalil Abdul-Bassit, number 15 for Oregon, played high school ball for the East Anchorage Thunderbirds, while I was shooting the Eagle River Wolves, so I know I have shot at least a couple games he was in about 4 or 5 years ago.

Anyway, here is my 10 Shot from the game.  These photos and more are available for MEDIA USE ONLY through Zuma Press.
