2013 Year In Review

2013 Year In Review – I am Glad 2013 is over.

2013 was a tough year.  A company I put a lot of faith in folded, leaving me in a lurch, had some of the hardest shoots ever, and got a chance to cover some awesome events.

It started off with covering the return of Missy Franklin to the high school swimming pool after her gold medal runs at the Olympics.  It included the Snowpocalypse USMNT soccer game against Costa Rica, high school state championships for baseball, soccer, basketball and football.  Concacaf Gold Cup soccer, tornado warnings, another crappy college football season and a lot more.

Stepping away from my 10 Shot, here are 25 shots from the last 12 months.

Snow removal prior to the start of the Costa Rica and USMNT World Cup Qualifier. It would not be enough….

Snow kept coming and coming, harder and harder

I entered Sports Authority Field for the first time to cover the Gold Cup pool play

I fell in love with Sports Authority…A great place to shoot.

I got some great light moments at Dick’s Sporting Goods as the Rapids made a run to the playoffs….but lost in the first game.

During the flooding in Colorado, the Rapids held a game and I swear, it looked like the wrath of God was above us.

I learned to hate night games at CU…but #6, Richardson was fun to shoot….he is off to try the NFL next year..

4 Jeffco schools made it to the playoffs…AWest, RV, Pomona, and pictured here, Standley Lake….but none made it to the finals…

I shot more softball than ever…and more volleyball too..

This was my favorite image of the football season. Golden, in burgundy, was trailing Monarch by like 15 touchdowns. Right before the half, as the clock hit zero, MoHi was going for another touchdown, but the QB (the son of the CU head coach) got leveled… With the snow falling, and the spray off the QB from the hit…I just love this image.

Boy’s soccer took over during the fall…and I even traveled to Denver West high school to shoot a playoff game.

Then it was back to Dick’s for the boy’s finals. 3 games in 1 day.

Probably my best image from CU’s football season…Chip sledding in the 4th quarter against USC.

I got to go back to Sports Authority for a third time this year (Gold Cup, CU/CSU) to cover the high school 5A and 4A finals and got a lot of shots of Christian McCaffrey, who will be playing for the PAC-12’s Stanford next season.

CU defeated Kansas for the first time at home in like 19 try’s.

High school hoops started picking up for me after football.

And the Buffs ended up in the top 25 after going undefeated at home during non-conference play. Bring on the PAC-12 and my Huskies!

Have a great 2014
