NCAA Basketball – Number 6 falls to the Buffaloes

This was a tough game to shoot.  In fact, I am not going to write a lot about it.  But I will get into that in a moment.  A little over a week ago the Kansas JayHawks were the number 2 team in the country.  The buzz around Boulder was all about “What if we beat them”.  Unfortunately, Kansas lost a game before coming to face the Buffs, so they dropped from 2 to 6 in the polls.  It would still be a big deal, but not as big as if they were number 2.  Kansas had won 19 straight games against Colorado going into this game.  The Coors Events Center was packed full.

And with 3 seconds left in the game, Askia Booker would hit a deep running three to win the game and the mayhem began.  This is the reason this is going to be short.  I fully intended to get this post up last night, but as the game ended and the fans stormed the court, I got thrown about 5 feet.  I got up, with only the grip to my Canon 7D suffering from the throw, or so I thought.  The USA Today shooter, Ron Chenoy, was being trampled.  I made my way over to him to help direct students around him while he gathered himself and got out of there then went back to shooting the mayhem.  I was run into, banged into, and tossed around.  I did not think it was too bad, and it was nothing like what Ron went through, but on the drive home, my back started to tighten up and the muscles in my arms and legs were sore and knotting up.  Waking up this morning, it was pretty hard to move, and I have bruises that developed overnight.  I love college basketball, and I love the big wins, but when you storm the court, have some consideration and do not trample or run over people.  You can do some serious damage.
