Portland Timbers Experience 5280

The Portland Timbers, coming off of a 1-0 win over the Colorado Rapids last week, visited Dick’s Sporting Goods Park for their second game against the Rapids.  I am splitting this post into two due to the fact there were special guests at the game and the second post will be devoted to these special guests.

The play between the teams was very rough and hard.  Obviously, both teams wanted to win bad, and it showed in their play that there is no love loss between the two clubs.  The Rapids struck first in the 6th minute with a goal from Andre Akpan.

21 minutes later, Tony Cascio would add to the Rapids lead with a goal of his own, giving the Rapids a 2-0 lead going into halftime at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.  Besides the 2 Rapids goals, players on both teams received a Yellow Card in the first half, with one going to the Rapids Luis Zapata and one going to the Timbers Diego Chara.

The second half started and within the first minute, the third Yellow Card of the match was issued to the Rapids Hendry Thomas.  Portland’s Steven Smith would receive a Yellow Card in the 74th minute and teammate Jack Jewsbury would get a Yellow Card in the 83rd minute.

Both teams would play rough and defended their goals for most of the second half until the 86th minute when Jaime Castrillon would score the third goal of the game for Colorado.  This goal would be the clubs 700th goal and ending the game with a 3-0 lead gave the Rapids their 200th victory

This was a fun night (see the next post coming soon) and happily, my 7D seems to be focusing better.  I found a couple custom functions that I had set incorrectly and now things are starting to look a lot more sharp already.  Next up for me will be the Sacramento State and Colorado Buffalos football game in Boulder this Saturday.
