HS Football Top 10 Showdown!
What is better than a top 10 showdown between two 5A HS Football powers? Well, maybe a showdown between two top 5 powers. Seventh ranked Cherry Creek headed out to the North Area Athletic Complex on Friday night to face off against the eighth ranked Pomona Panthers. I was really looking forward to this game. Unfortunately Cherry Creek Bruins senior transfer Nathan Sparks, who was selected last season as a second team Junior All American, was ineligible for this game. But, it still looked like it would be a good game.
The first half ended up being a lot less exciting than anyone expected. Creek and Pomona went scoreless in the first quarter, and in the second, the Bruins were only able to score on a field goal, and after Pomona scored a touchdown, they confused themselves as they lined up for a potential fake PAT, and missed scoring a two point conversion.
The second half got a lot better with Pomona scoring on a field goal, and Cherry Creek taking a 10-9 lead on a touchdown and PAT. The Bruins then outscored the home team nine points to six in the fourth to win the game 19-15.
Here is my 10 Shot from the game.
