HS Basketball – Ralston Roundup Final Day – Game 1
The 7th/8th place game of the Ralston Roundup pitted the two loss teams against each other. Adams City had lost to Montbello the first day, and Loveland the second day. The Jaguars of Rock Canyon fell on the first day to Arvada West and to Rangeview in their second game.
The first quarter made this game look like it was going to be a great match up. Both teams put up double figures with the Jaguars scoring 22 and the Adams City Eagles netting 15 points. Then the wheels came off of the bus for Adams City. The Eagles went scoreless in the second quarter while Rock Canyon continued the scoring onslaught, adding 23 more points to the scoreboard and taking a 45-15 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Jaguars held the Eagles to 6 points in the third quarter while adding another 18 points taking a 63 to 21 lead into the 4th quarter. The fourth was the only quarter Adams City won, and it was far from enough to put a dent in the Jaguars lead. The Eagles held Rock Canyon to 5 4th quarter points but only scored 6 points. So Rock Canyon went on to take 7th place in the Ralston Roundup with a 68 to 27 win over the Adams City Eagles.
Adams City is not a bad team. Their communication is not there, but the talent is. If they start working together as a team, they will be a tough opponent to face. Rock Canyon is right there. They are on the verge of becoming a feared basketball team. The talent is there, they communicate well, but not one player has taken a leadership role over the three games I shot. As soon as a clear leader steps forward, this will be a tough team.
Here is my 10 Shot from the game.
