During halftime of the Colorado Rapids and Portland Timbers game Wednesday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, 7 Olympic Athletes who are from Colorado or now living in Colorado were honored by the Rapids. Of course the biggest name in Colorado Olympics, Missy Franklin, was one of the many and came down onto the pitch prior to the start of the game for pictures and autographs. Here are some photos of Missy before the game.

Then, at half time, 7 Olympians, including Franklin, now wearing one of her gold medals, came onto the field. It was kind of funny because of the 7 Olympians there, Dennis Bowsher (Modern Pentathlon), Kelsey Campbell (Wrestling), David Herman (BMX), Corey Cogdell (Shooting), Lance Brooks (Discus), Bronze Medalist Janay Deloach (Long Jump), and Franklin, I had connections with three of the athletes. Campbell was originally from Anchorage, Alaska and Deloach was from Eielson Air Force Base outside of Fairbanks. I moved here in July from Eagle River, just outside of Anchorage, and grew up until middle school in Fairbanks. And Corey Cogdell’s dad came to my garage sale that I had prior to moving to Arvada from Eagle River, where Cogdell is from. Corey and I got to talk a little at half time, mainly about the difference in the weather from Eagle River to Colorado, and the recent windstorm and power outages that hit South Central Alaska just the other day.
So, here are photos of the athletes as they were introduced to the fans at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
