HS Basketball – CHSAA 5A Round 1
The Ralston Valley Mustang boys hosted Pine Creek on Wednesday in the first round of the CHSAA 5A State Basketball Tournament.
Pine Creek surprised the Mustangs in the first quart, trailing by one after the first eight minutes. The second quarter was all Mustangs however, and Ralston Valley outscored the visiting Eagles 19-7 to take a 34 to 21 lead into the locker rooms at halftime. The first half highlights were away from my lights, but Dallas Walton, the sophomore forward for Ralston Valley threw down a nasty alley-oop dunk in the first 16 minutes of the game.
Ralston Valley increased their lead with a 19-15 third quarter, and pulled away with a 19 to 18 fourth quarter to win the game 72-54.
This sent the Mustangs to face Ft. Collins later in the week where they would escape with a 1 point victory and a spot in the Sweet Sixteen. They will face Mountain Vista with the winner heading to the Denver Coliseum for the Great Eight.
Here is my 10 Shot from the Pine Creek game.
