HS Football – Pine Creek at Montrose
Ah, Sports Authority Field. Home of the Denver Broncos. I really like shooting at this facility. Or, I did. I shot the CONCACAF Gold Cup soccer games here this summer, and the Colorado/Colorado State football game here, and both days the lighting was awesome. Just some beautiful lighting. It looked like it was going to be another great day to shoot here. Not a cloud in the sky, nice and warm (80 on the field at kick off), just great conditions. Except the light was extremely harsh. It was a 11:30 a.m. kick off, so the sun was high. Shooting from the south end of the stadium, things were fine, but on the north end, you were shooting right into the sun. Made things a little more difficult.
Pine Creek dominated the first half, putting 14 points up in the first quarter and another 7 in the second. The Eagles allowed only one, second quarter touchdown by Montrose, taking a 21-7 lead into the locker room at half time.
In the third quarter, Pine Creek added three more touchdowns and allowed the Indians one more, giving the Eagles a 42-14 lead going into the fourth quarter. With reserves in and the celebration starting on the sidelines for Pine Creek, Montrose were unable to find the end zone again and allowed another touchdown by the Eagles. Pine Creek won the Colorado 4A State Football Championship by a score of 49-14.
Congrats to both teams on making it to the final game.
Here is my 10 Shot from the game.
