HS Girls Soccer – Winter makes a brief return
It was cold at the North Area Athletic Complex on Tuesday night. A cold wind was blowing and everyone was trying to find warmth somewhere. It looked like it would be a matter of what team could keep their girls warm throughout the game without tiring them out.
And it was all Golden. The Eagles of Thompson Valley, from Loveland, Colorado, had no answer for the Demons. Golden started the scoring early, and put three shots into the back of the net. After the first forty minutes of the game, Golden held a comfortable 3-0 lead over the visiting Eagles.
In the second half, Golden continued to keep Thompson Valley from many scoring chances, and added a fourth goal to win the game 4-0. As soon as the game was over, fans, parents, players, officials and coaches headed for their cars to get warm.
A real shot in the arm for Golden, in both the first half and the second half was the play coming off the bench by junior forward Katie Kriedle. Kriedle came in during both halves and was explosive, fighting for the ball, not backing down, going airborne a couple times after the ball, and for the most part was hassling the Eagles defense for most of the game. Well done.
I would like to ask all Colorado soccer teams for a couple things. Make sure your rosters are current on MaxPreps. When you have players that are not on the roster, you make it difficult for any media coverage of your team. I would also plead with teams to make sure your players, all of your players have a number visible on both the back of their uniforms and the front of their uniforms. It makes it very difficult to report on your games when we have no clue who your players are, or that you have two players with the same number on your roster. It is very simple to have an administrator, assistant coach, team parent or someone involved with the team to make sure your MaxPreps roster are correct.
