HS Soccer – Pine Creek at Rock Canyon
What a weird game. The Rock Canyon and Pine Creek fans were in full force. Painted faces, scarves flying, signs abound. But nothing the fans did could help either team on the field. Both the Rock Canyon Jaguars and Pine Creek Eagles went scoreless through the 80 minutes of regulation time, and scoreless through the 15 minutes of the first overtime. The scoreless minutes would continue until the 8th minute of the second overtime when the game ended on a bizarre goal. Pine Creek senior Jayvier Morales attempted to cross the ball in front of the goal, hoping for it to connect with one of his teammates when the Rock Canyon goalkeeper got his hands on the ball and attempted to punch it away. But instead, the ball came off of the keepers hands and fell into the goal for a game winning golden goal, giving Pine Creek their first State Championship in their first appearance in the championship game.
Thankfully, this year, the weather cooperated and all three games got played with out any delays. Congratulations to both the Eagles and Jaguars for great seasons.
Here is my 10 Shot from the game.
