HS Soccer – CHSAA 5A Playoffs – First Round
Ok, I know Colorado State University is in Ft. Collins and their mascot is a Ram (he was pretty tiny compared to the University of Colorado Buffaloes mascot Ralphie, but that is another story), but are you really going to name your high school mascot Lambkins? I guess so as the Ft. Collins High School Lambkins made the trip down to the NAAC to play Ralston Valley in the first round of the CHSAA 5A State Soccer Playoffs.
After the penalty kick….wait, kicks from the mark ending to the first game of the double header, it was dark and cold and I had to pull out the flash to shoot this game. Again, I hate using flash for soccer. It just doesn’t work well. But, I did, and I came away with a few good shots.
Unfortunately for the higher seeded Mustangs, the Ft. Collins team scored in the 9th minute of the game, and that was all they needed to knock off the Ralston Valley Mustangs. With a 1-0 victory, the Lambkins move on to the next round and the Mustangs season comes to an end.
One positive from this game, the officiating crew was one of the best crews on the pitch this season. They handled themselves and the game very well, as they have all season. Well done.
Here is my 10 Shot from the game.
