After two weeks of snow canceling so many games, it was nice to finally be back in the flow of things. Today it was a girls soccer game between Green Mountain High School and the home team Arvada Bulldogs at the North Area Athletic Complex.

It has been a touch season for the girls from Arvada High School. After their first 4 games they were looking pretty good with a 2-0-2 record, with one of those wins and one tie in league play, but after a couple key injuries, the have lost the last 6 games (7 games played, but score against Skyview was not reported, and may be a weather canceled game), with 4 of those losses by mercy rule.

It seemed to me that ever time Arvada got the ball, within seconds it was either stolen by Green Mountain or just given up to the Rams. I am not saying Arvada is a bad team, they are not. They just appear to have had some bad breaks this season. They play the entire 80 minutes though, and do play tough.

Green Mountain, on the other hand, looked very good, and very refined in the game. They handled the ball well, and delivered some great passes and shots.

And, unfortunately for Arvada, the Rams just overpowered them and even with some moments of brilliance from the Bulldogs best player Aspen Beckwith (pictured bellow), they just could not find the back of the net.

For a team on such a downswing, I actually am happy when I see I will be shooting the Arvada team because I know some time during the game, Beckwith is going to try to take total control of the game and let off a phenomenal shot on goal, or totally juke a defender out of her shoes. It does not always happen when I am in a good position to shoot it, but she is a joy to watch play.

But, like I said, the Rams were just too much. For all the athletic prowess that Beckwith has over just about everyone else on the field, the Rams had that over the rest of the Bulldogs and were able to hold down the Bulldogs.

So, unfortunately for Arvada, they found themselves the victim of another 10-0 mercy rule loss early in the 2nd half, falling to 2-7-2 for the season. Since this game was played, Arvada lost their next game 0-7 moving their record for the season to 2-8-2 with 2 more games left.
