A day after the loss to the Ralston Valley Lady Mustangs, the A-West Lady Wildcats were at it again, hosting Bear Creek.  Hope was the home team would bounce back from the shellacking they received from RV and take it to Bear Creek.

As you can see in the photo above, it was not going to be easy for Arvada West as Bear Creek has a big presence in the paint.  I will not say she is a great basketball player, I will not even say she is a good basketball player.  But she is there, towering above everyone else on the floor, and was pretty hard to box out.  It was going to be a long night for the Lady Cats.

Arvada West had their chances, but in the first quarter they could only find the bottom of the basket once, trailing Bear Creek 7-2 going into the second quarter.

But the center for Bear Creek was just tough.  You can see how high the player from A-West has to jump to get her hand on the ball and the shooter has not even left the ground yet.

Bear Creek went on a scoring flurry in the second quarter, putting 20 points up on the board, and they held Arvada West to only 7 points and took a 18 point lead into the locker room at halftime.

After the mid point break, Arvada West came out and played much tougher, and was actually able to outscore the visitors from Bear Creek by one in the third.  But they still trailed by a score of 38-22 going into the fourth quarter.

The 4th quarter, Arvada West was able to keep the scoring up like they did in the 3rd, but they were unable to chip away at the lead Bear Creek had built, and the visiting team matched A-West point for point and taking the win 52-36.

It has been a rough season for the Lady Wildcats, and the season only has about a month to go before the Jeffco and State Playoffs get going.  So, the A-West girls really need to turn it on for this last month of games if they want to go anywhere in the playoffs.
